A Simple Gift or a "Thank You" Can Mean So Much

Society & Culture

Two extremely wonderful things occurred yesterday and today. Yesterday I received a "thank you" note from one of my co-workers, and in the mail today I received a gift (two pendants in the form of African Masks) from my youngest brother, Jefferson. The "thank you" was very timely, as I was feeling somewhat worn-out from work (No complaint here, for I would not exchange my job for any other.). Receiving the pendants was a huge surprise and an extreme delight as last Christmas while in Brasil, I had given my favorite pendant (in the form of Buddha's head) to one of my nephews and was on the lookout for a replacement ever since. So imagine my surprise when I opened the envelope and saw the pendants. But more significant is the realization that in the past few weeks or month at least two individuals had me in their thoughts in very positive ways. That to someone I matter. Now that is special.
