Boring Them To Death With Our Lectures


The Lecture Approach

1.  This approach fosters a unilateral exchange rather than a bilateral exchange - a talking down to rather  
     than a conversation.

2.  Students whose learning style is other than auditory will have a difficult time with this approach.

3.  Students may find the lecture boring and lose interest.

4.  This approach does not help students who are weak in note-taking.

5.  These days the information given in a lecture is readily available online.

6.  Students may not feel they are allowed to ask questions as they arise during the lecture.

7.  This approach is teacher-centered rather than student-centered.
