Lovers on the Central Park Lake |
On weekends, especially on Sundays, New York City goes through quite a transformation. I made this discovery only three weeks ago when AP and I decided to spend a Sunday walking around the City. I have lived in New York for over twenty two years, and you would think that I would have known this long before. On weekdays, the city is almost a sea of people rushing about looking serious, sometimes impolite, excessively stressed out, inaccessible, with the energy being largely negative. Not so on Sundays. On Sundays the energy is positive. People go about the city having fun, enjoying its offerings, looking alive, buoyant, energetic, effervescent, smiling. It is almost intoxicating. Since that first Sunday of discovery, AP and I have been out and about the city every Sunday following. So if you live in the Big Apple, resist the temptation to sleep in on Sundays. Go out into the city for brunch at one of its many A-rated restaurants. Then walk about town. Sail or bike around Manhattan. Explore. Mingle with the people. Hang out in the parks. There is a whole lot to do and see. Make New York City a palpable Sunday experience.
