Recreation, Health, & Fitness ---

So the groupings in the 2014 FIFA World Cup have been decided.  The United States soccer team has found itself in a very tough group which includes Portugal, Ghana, and Germany.  One of my friends was bemoaning the fact that they are in this group which puts them against some stiff competition, but I am optimistic.  The important thing is that they are in the World Cup; that in itself gives them a chance of getting to the finals and winning.  Yes.  I am rooting for the U.S. team, and why not?  Hell, this is where I live.  And moreover, it's sport not war.  Not only do I want the U.S. team to win because they represent my homeland, but because their winning will certainly be good for the game.  Not that the game needs the U.S.; it is the world's most popular sport without her.  But it cannot hurt if she wins; the sport will certainly become as prominent here as baseball and football if she does.  My only concern is that the sport will become the victim of hyper-commercialization like the other major sports.  Anyway, go USA!  I hope my Brasilian girlfriend does not see this article; I will certainly have a lot of explaining to do.  And perhaps worse, face some serious sanctions.  Damn!  Talk about being screwed.
