It is still one of the most beautiful things in the world. I speak of the wedding ceremony, of the western, Christian tradition that is. In other cultural traditions I am sure the sentiment is the same. To see a bride walking down the aisle (as the bridal march is played) all arrayed in her white bridal gown and preceded by her bridesmaids, while waiting at the altar the bridegroom stands awaiting the love of his life...is an emotional experience like none other. The giving away by the father, the exchange of vows, the affirmation of mutual commitment, the exchange of rings, the pronouncement, the kiss, and the happy departure of the newly weds as husband and wife is an experience that validates our humanity, our very existence. But when that bride walking down the altar is your own daughter... The experience is priceless.
